I’ve moved…

… to http://fenchurchcrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ – I really like WordPress – it’s easy to use, the gallery feature is good and I like the way it gives me stats. But – it doesn’t allow affliate links. I didn’t care when I set up this blog, but then I was accepted into the Lettering Delights affliate scheme, and whilst I don’t expect to gain much in the way of commision, it’d be nice to get a few pennies now and then. So I’ve moved to Blogger – which isn’t as easy to set up, doesn’t have a way of adding a gallery (although you can link to picasa albums) and the stats aren’t as informative, although if you know what you’re doing with html I think it could be more powerful. We’ll see, maybe I’ll stay there, may I’ll come back. For now though, I’m going to give it a go, so if you want to see what I’ve been upto recently head over to http://fenchurchcrafts.blogspot.co.uk/!

Beer

My hubby’s homebrew ‘needed’ a sign apparantly, so using the ‘Cheers‘ Digikit in Craft Artist Professional, a Blog Train graphic (from No Pirates Allowed) and inkscape I did a lovely little print and cut using some printable vinyl I got from Thyme Graphics.

Mojo Monday 238

Time for another Mojo Monday challenge – this week is MOJO238. Just in time for my brother’s birthday on Weds  – I may be cutting it a little fine!

Wedding Card

Not a Mojo Monday post for a change – today I’ve made a card for a colleague of my husbands. I used the Classic Wedding and Tent Cards set from SVG Attic. The envelope svg was included in the Tent Cards set. The papers are We R Memory Keeper Explore papers. The second picture isn’t very good, but shows the bottom of the tent card and how it’s joined.

Friends Fur-Ever

Hot on the heels of my previous post is another card inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch MOJO237. I used the new Friends Fur-ever graphic set from Lettering Delights (available at the check out only) and some DHD papers (Karen Funk’s ‘One Year Older‘). I’ve qactually made 3 of these cards – two for my daugther to give to her friends who are having parties in the next couple of weeks, and a spare, just in case.

Mojo Monday 237

This weeks Mojo Monday sketch is great – see here (MOJO237). I used Lettering Delights Seamstress simple cut its and this months free digital paper set from DHD.

Guess what…

… it’s another Mojo Monday post! This weeks sketch is MOJO236 – a great sketch for using leftovers, I’ve plans for at least 2 more cards using this layout. Only problem with this one is I forgot the border, oh well, I’ll try to do better!

Let it snow…

… Actually not a reference to how cold it’s been this week at times, but a reference to the first christmas card I’ve made this year! It was for a Mojo Monday contest – MOJO235. I bought some papers from Shery K Designs – including the Winter Mega Collection and the designs just seemed ready made for this challenge. Of course they weren’t, and it actually took quite some time to set up a print and cut in inkscape, but now it’s done, I think these will be used for christmas this year.

Anyway – here’s my card – Happy Christmas!

When is a Black Cat not a Black Cat?

When it’s a weasel!

I bought my Cougar from Dawn at Thyme Graphics about 18 months ago now – and I’ve never looked back! Yes, there was a huge learning curve, no it hasn’t been all plain sailing, but throughout, the Black Cat forum has been my safety net – any questions I’ve asked have been answered, my work has been praised and I feel the support that Dawn and the forum offer is second to none.

Recently Dawn’s business partner has decided that he no longer wants Dawn! They started up together, and whilst I don’t know the full extent of the agreements between them, I do know that it is Dawn who answered all my queries, sent me the machine and provided all the support I’ve needed – the only time I have interacted with Colin was when I purchased a signcut dongle from him – and whilst I might be biased, he took him ages to respond to my queries (he only got back to me when Dawn pushed him) and I felt vaguely unsatisfied by the whole transaction. Now the brand is succesful because Dawn has laid all the groundwork, he wants all the benefit and has tried cutting Dawn out of the company. I believe she now owns the company, but Colin has tried all manner of underhand tricks to prevent her from selling the cougars – each attempt has been thwarted by legal means, but unfortunately for Dawn he owns the BlackCatCutters web site, where he is now claiming that if you buy from Dawn you will not be able to get spares or support within the next few months and he is claiming that he is the only supplier.

I can tell you that this is rubbish – if you see his web site and click on a link to take you to a distributor, it goes nowhere (like his claims), the blurb he has even says he will only offer 3 months support and only to direct purchases. Dawn will give you support for this machine as long as she has breath in her body, and even supports those people who buy their machines second hand!! How many companies do you know that would do this!

Dawn has had to change the name of the Black Cat Forum due to various problems, but her main website Thyme Graphics remains the same. The Black Cat Forum is now http://www.blackcatforumuk.com.

If you decide you want a Cougar – buy from Dawn, not Colin – there’s no two ways about it!

Mojo Monday, well Wednesday anyway!

This weeks Mojo Monday challenge can be seen here – this week the challenge is to make a square or circle shaped card, but, hey, it’s nearly Easter so I’ve made an egg shaped card! I used the Scalloped Egg freebie from SVGCUTS and the chicken is from Lettering Delights’ Chicken Fat and Alley Cat graphics set which I printed and contour cut on my black cat. I dug out my Big Shot for the first time in ages to emboss the eggs.
